Many traditional camper flares are produced from polyester or fiberglass. That material has been used in the camper world for years, but it also has clear disadvantages. Polyester parts are often relatively heavy, labor-intensive to produce, and more susceptible to cracks or stresses. At Kiedan, we have consciously chosen a different approach: high-quality ABS More-Space-Flares. ABS is lighter, stronger, and ensures a much more consistent product quality. Additionally, ABS parts feel much more modern and sleek than traditional polyester solutions. Another major advantage is that ABS is very suitable for precise production from high-quality molds. As a result, the flares fit much more tightly to the lines of the van, creating a more OEM-like appearance. You not only see that difference during assembly but also years later during use.
At Kiedan, we don’t believe in simply buying and reselling products. We develop products from practical experience and critically look at fit, assembly, appearance, and ease of use. This was also central to the development of the More-Space-Flares. The vehicles were first fully 3D scanned to gain exact insight into the lines and shapes of the body. Based on this data, the first designs were developed together with the manufacturer. Then prototypes were tested and further refined before final production started. This way of developing ensures that the flares don’t look like “loose add-on parts” but feel much more like an integrated part of the camper. We find that OEM feeling extremely important.
Within Europe, increasingly strict requirements are being set for vehicle modifications and camper conversions. Therefore, homologation has become increasingly important. Many camper flares on the market only have material reports or local declarations, while official European approval is lacking.
